Radiation Testing

IRF SpaceLab has it’s own Cobalt 60 facility for Total Ionization Dose (TID) testing. TID testing is used to simulate the exposure of electronics to radiation environment. Usually it is an accelerated test compared to the space environment. Our facility provides a Cobalt 60 source with rates of 0.2 – 3.3 rad/h.

For additional tests of radiation safety equipment or detectors we do have a other radioactive isotopes available upon request.

A large setup held together by blue steel profiles. There is a chamber in the middle with doors ajar, lead lined walls. Stacks of lead blocks are visible on the top of the chamber with a radiation warning sign in front.
